DISCOVER ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VIEWS OF GARMISCH-PARTENKIRCHEN
The ruins of Werdenfels Castle are located around 80 meters above the Loisach Valley between Garmisch and Farchant. It has been perched up there since the 13th century and is considered to have given its name to the "Werdenfelser Land" region. The once proud castle is now a ruin full of secrets and a popular hiking destination.
Hiking tip for the whole family: the nature trail lets hikers of all ages follow in the footsteps of ancient earls and lords of the castle. The journey into the past takes you along a well-maintained path that is around four kilometers long. A total of 15 boards along the way provide information about the history of the castle and its inhabitants.
And if you fancy a culinary treat afterwards, there are two special places to stop for refreshments: the Berggasthof Pflegersee and the Werdenfelser Hütte.
